The Highway code; rules of the road UK 2012

The Highway Code is an important part of learning to drive safely and within the requirements of the laws in the UK. The Highway code contains a series of numbered rules together with guidelines and cover all aspects of driving on the public highways including positioning of vehicles on the roads, eligability to drive and safe driving including speed and lane management.

The Highway Code does not only provide rules for drivers of motor vehicles (cars) it also containes rules for any user of the public highways including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists and how each should consider and interact with one another.

The highway code shown on this site has been re-produced from the official Government web-site and is correct in April 2009.
